Embracing the future
The curriculum at Burgess Hill Girls is very much about both the present and the future. Many of the current ‘in-demand’ jobs did not even exist ten years ago, and our task is to equip our girls with the ability to embrace a future that few can imagine.
Our girls achieve because they challenge convention, push boundaries, celebrate success and if and when they fall, they learn to get back up, embrace their mistakes and move forward; for only through making mistakes in multiple ways do we learn. In a single-sex environment, girls have the ability to let fly their thoughts and dreams and ambitions. Above all, they learn that the future is bright, bold, brilliant and big and, above all, theirs for the taking.
All pupils from Year 10 upwards have access to a German Assistant. Access to a native speaker allows students to hone their speaking skills and she is able to share with them her first-hand knowledge of German speaking, current affairs and culture.
Enthusiastic linguists across all languages are encouraged to take part in the annual national Linguistics Olympiad. In 2014 an Upper Sixth student was a gold medal winner in the International Finals in Beijing.
