March Open Day

Posted: 17th March 2017

Dr Ranj from CBeebies and This Morning was a roaring success when he visited our school for Open Day on Saturday 4th March 2017. His friendly nature meant he was a great hit with the younger children and their parents.

Dr Ranj was invited to speak as part of the school’s programme on mental health and wellbeing. He is a practising Paediatric Doctor as well as being a presenter on children’s TV.  He is a familiar face to the young audience. During his visit he made time for photos with the children and had a tour of the school.

In his talk Dr Ranj explained to the children ten things they should do in order to remain both mentally and physically healthy. His final point was that children should have fun. Mrs Cavanagh, Head of Junior School said, “At Burgess Hill Girls, we believe the academic success of our pupils is in explicitly linked to having fun. Happy children are confident children and the feel good endorphins we release when we are cheerful are crucial for positive wellbeing.”

It was a pleasure to see so many visitors touring our Nursery up to our Sixth Form at our Open Day.  Pottery and photography workshops took place as well as an Under 10 Netball Tournament.  There was certainly a buzz in the air as the sun showed the school at its best.  We look forward to meeting these visitors again in the near future.
