Tree Planting Ceremony

The Head Girl for this academic year, Vicky H planted a tree in the school grounds as part of a traditional farewell on Friday 19th May 2017.  The Head Girls’ tree planting ceremony at Burgess Hill Girls is in its thirty fifth year and the grounds benefit from a beautiful collection of trees of varying species.

Senior School students watched the ceremony for retiring Head Girl, Vicky who gave a tribute speech to each of her school officer colleagues: Hattie R and Ariel W (Deputy Head Girls); Valerie C (Head of Boarders); Lucy B and Libby B (Sixth Form Events Co-ordinators); Julie C (House Events Co-ordinator); Jade B and Alice B (Charities and Outreach); Sophie S (House Captain for Burns); Sophie H (House Captain for Milton); Molly L (House Captain for Thomas) and Hannah W (House Captain for Yeats).

Acting Head, Mrs Liz Laybourn, announced the new school officers from September.  They will be: Nell S (Head Girl); Eleanor R and Maddi P (Deputy Head Girls); Sheanne C (Head of Boarders); Florence M (House Co-ordinator); Aoife R and Bobbi E (Sixth Form Events Co-ordinators); Ella F and Tatra B-M (Charities and Outreach); Fiona G (House Captain for Burns); Katie F (House Captain for Milton); Rosie P (House Captain for Thomas) and Emily H (House Captain for Yeats).

Burgess Hill School is set in fourteen acres of grounds within a conservation area and a tree has been planted each year in the school grounds since 1982 by the retiring Head Girl.
