Young Fashion Designer UK

Posted: 17th July 2017

Young Fashion Designer UK (YFD UK) was established in 2010 to recognise young fashion designers. It is an annual national competition where Fashion and Textiles works are judged by industry professionals. The competition is divided into two areas; the South covers schools from Oxford down the south coast; east and west of the country. Students enter their designs into one of three categories; GCSE, AS or A level. From the designs submitted only six competitors are invited to attend the finals, so to be selected as a finalist is a prestigious achievement. We’re very proud that Natasha W from the Lower Sixth was chosen to attend the finals held on Saturday 1st July.

Creativity, progression and the desire to be cutting-edge drives the UK’s Fashion and Textiles students. YFD UK is about celebrating excellence, innovation and achievement across fashion, textiles, technology and design. The judges are selected to bring a wide range of industry experience combined with knowledge and a love for the fashion and textiles industries.

Natasha was hugely inspired by the whole day. She made some good friends and found the workshops, which were held during the event, really interesting and great fun.

Next year there is a new category open to Year 9 Textiles students; so be warned girls, Mrs Bradley will be pushing you to send your designs away next June!
