Burgess Hill Girls take part in World Challenge Expedition
Date posted: 22/09/16
Five Burgess Hill Girls students from Year 10, Year 11 and L6 took part in a World Challenge expedition to Paklenica in Croatia this Summer. World Challenge expeditions are a different kind of school trip with the challengers taking responsibility for budgeting, food planning, cooking and leadership of activities for the duration of the expedition. They were supported by Miss Bramley, Mark Boden, an experienced World Challenge leader and Slaven Vajnaht, the Croatian guide. The week was a brilliant mixture of trekking in the Paklenica National Park, sea kayaking around the Croatian coast and kayaking down the demanding Zrmanja and Krupa rivers. Accommodation was in mountain huts or camping, including some beautiful wild camping on the river banks. There was some beautiful weather, stunning scenery and real challenges for the team over the week but it was an incredible experience which has left the girls with newfound confidence, self-sufficiency skills and some great memories.
