French Exchange 2016
Date posted: 28/11/16
Just before half-term fifteen Year 9 and Year 10 girls and their families hosted their French partners during the first leg of this year’s French Exchange. The French pupils and their teachers had a packed six days mixing cultural trips with family time. Visits included trips to London and Brighton where the Pier and the Lanes received a special mention. In London a visit to the Churchill War Rooms brought their current history topic to life. However, the highlight of the trip was of course what makes an exchange so special, the time spent with their partner in school and at home, discovering what life is like for a Burgess Hill girl and practising their English: pretty good is what they thought! Our families had clearly made sure their guests were warmly welcomed. The group left tired but delighted; some tears were shed, a last few pictures were taken and then it was time to say “Au revoir” and “A bientôt”.
In June it will be the turn of our girls and their teachers to travel to the Provence for the return leg. The exchange – now in its fifth year – is linked with Collège Champfleury in the beautiful city of Avignon.
