Six musicians from the Gospel Touch Choir visited the school on Thursday 22nd September to run a workshop for all students in Years 5 – Upper Sixth.
The morning started with a performance by the group of Amazing Grace, Lean on Me, Stand By Me and Oh Happy Day.
Following this were two sessions in which girls learnt about the history of Gospel Music, Song Writing and singing Gospel songs in harmony. There was an emphasis on the importance of communicating through music.
The morning concluded with everyone joining together in Croft II Performance. The Glee Club performed their own arrangement of Carole King songs which received great plaudits from the visiting musicians. We performed a song with lyrics written by Year 5 students, Laura S and Louise E and finished with everyone singing Gospel songs.
Mr. Newbold said “It was fantastic to see the school coming together to make music. Gospel Touch Choir were passionate about their music and helped create a wonderful atmosphere.”
