Mrs Allen to judge BBC 500 Words Story Competition

Mrs Allen is delighted to, for the second consecutive year, have been selected as a judge for BBC Radio 2 ‘500 Words’ competition for young people. During March, Mrs Allen, Year 6 teacher, will be reading and marking 26 stories written by 10 to 13 year olds from across the country, scoring them on their plot, originality, characterisation, language and her enjoyment of the story. Having read such a variety of interesting stories last year, Mrs Allen is looking forward to seeing what this year’s entries hold.

Mrs Allen said, “So far ‘time travel’ seems to be a popular theme but I have also spotted some great mysteries as well as a story about a magical egg!”

The Year 6 girls have all been encouraged to submit their own stories this year and written some fantastic pieces with potential to go a long way in the competition.
