Student Congratulations September 2015

Congratulations to the following girls who have achieved successes in and out of school this month.

Katharine farmer (Old Girl)

Congratulations to Katharine will be making her full professional directorial debut at the St James Theatre in London Victoria with a 5 week run of the UK Premiere of ‘Pig Farm’, by the Tony Award winning American writer, Greg Kotis. The show (poster below) is a dark simmering comedy and runs from 21 October to 21 November 2015.

Katharine said “I had the very good fortune to attend the school from 2004 to  2009. Indeed, my time at the school was entirely pivotal in fuelling my love of learning and in particular my love of theatre which, in turn, lead me on to studying Theatre Studies at The University of Warwick a few years later. Since my graduation in May 2014, I have been truly blessed with some lucky breaks as I have pursued my professional career ‎as a theatre director.”

Well done Katharine!

Sophie springate (Lower Sixth)

Congratulations to Sophie who won the Years 10-11 (15-16 years) category at the Society of Head’s national composition competition this summer.

Sophie said “I wrote pop song ‘Love’s a Game’ in the latter part of my Music GCSE course. I decided to take a risk with it and chose it as one of my two compositional submissions, replacing an orchestral piece I had been working on. Funnily enough, I only entered my pop song in the Society of Heads competition because I couldn’t find the sheet music to my other piece! So t came as such a lovely surprise to find out something had become of it in our first lesson back! I’m really enjoying getting my teeth into AS Level Music, and look forward to composing more pop songs in the future!
