A Truly Amazing Achievement

Congratulations to current parent, Ian Maskell who has completed his epic trip in his wheelchair from the London Eye to Brighton’s i360.  After fourteen days and more than 100 miles later, he was welcomed as he crossed the finish line in the sunshine.

Following the completion of this amazing achievement, Ian said: “It has been a huge challenge, but one I will never forget and the support I have received has been fantastic.”

Out in all weathers, from heavy rain to bright sunshine, Ian’s wheelchair broke at one point. Luckily he was able to call on a friend to come and help him mend it.  Because of the rain and maintenance work, it took Ian longer than he had thought it would to finish, but he is thrilled to have raised over £6,500 for the four charities that helped him after the bicycle accident in 2013 which left him paralysed. These charities include Architects Benevolent Society, Aspire, Back Up Trust, and Spinal Injuries Association.

Ian’s trip is documented on Instagram – London2Brighton_by_wheelchair.  If you would still like to donate, please visit uk.virginmoneygiving.com and then search for Ian Maskell.

In support of this challenge, Nick Dyson, Head of Sixth Form at Burgess Hill Girls, greeted Ian as he arrived at the finish line at the i360.
