UKMT Junior Team Maths Challenge

Article by Emma N

On Friday the 26th of February, Burgess Hill Girls entered the regional final of the UKMT Junior Team Maths Challenge at Lancing College. Our team was made up of two Year 9s (Selina and Emma) and two Year 8s (Elana and Izzy). We all worked really well together as a team. There were four rounds – a Group round, a Shuttle round, a Crossnumber round and a Relay round. For all except the group round we split into pairs to tackle the problems. At the end of the day we got the results and Burgess Hill came 3rd out of 24 and were the top scoring girls’ school in the regional final.

Elana said “The day was filled with maths which was fun but exhausting! Overall I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to hopefully doing it again next year!”.  I think that sums up the day perfectly. Congratulations to all of the team for being amazing and we look forward to next year.
