Stephen worked as a musician for a number of years both in pop bands and at the National Theatre in plays.
He then trained as a solicitor and has recently retired from a successful legal career where he was a partner and head of litigation at central London law firm, Payne Hicks Beach.
His two daughters, who have their own successful professional careers, were both pupils at Burgess Hill Girls.
