GSA Dads for Daughters Event

Posted: 30th January 2017

On Wednesday 25th January Burgess Hill Girls was one of the first of many GSA schools to host a D4D (Dads for Daughters) event.  The evening kicked off with a wine tasting for both parents and afterwards the mum’s enjoyed a yoga session with a local teacher whilst the dads seated themselves for the seminar.

This seminar was interactive and got the dads to share their experiences. The speaker was Diana Sharp, who has worked in the independent school sector for over 25 years as a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. She has worked in some of the top independent schools, like St Paul’s Girls and really is ahead of her game. She shared many ideas about dads engaging their daughters, and trying to understand them as young women. Overall the feedback from the dads was really positive with one father commenting “We know how to be boys, but we do need some guidance on how to be girls”.

Burgess Hill Girls will be looking at another event for dads to take part in, in March.
