Burgess Hill Girls provides an ambitious academic education that enables our students to excel and to become leaders of the future. We focus on developing bold, inquisitive and creative girls by providing a supportive and stimulating environment. We balance stress-free academic achievement, success in sport and the creative and performing arts and exceptional pastoral care, with a forward-thinking, unpretentious, ‘can-do’ attitude.

Burgess Hill Girls is consistently amongst the top performing independent schools in Sussex for GCSE & A Level results. In 2022, 72% of GCSE grades were 9-7 (A* – A), 83% of A Level grades were A* – B and 58% were A* – A.

Even more important to us than the end results is the value we add to each pupil’s academic achievements. According to the Durham University Centre of Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM), our pupils’ GCSE performance is, on average, at least one grade higher than predicted. We are often in the top ten percent nationally.

The majority of our Sixth Form leavers go on to higher education, studying a wide range of courses; from medicine, accounting and law to animation, robotics and aeronautics.

Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group Universities are popular destinations for our students, but we always work closely with them to explore more diverse options which might result in a better fit, including alternative career pathways such as school leaver programmes and apprenticeships.

“The school is almost non-selective and yet achieves better results than many more competitive schools.”
