School Team Support Marathon

Posted: 20th April 2017

Pupils, parents and staff from Burgess Hill Girls handed out over 10,000 cups of water to runners in the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 9th April 2017.

The Burgess Hill Girls water station was based at mile 23, along the coastal road in Portslade, just three miles from the finish line.
The team began early in the morning preparing the drinks for the runners, and they worked hard all day handing out bottles and cheering the runners on as they went past on a very hot day. A special thank you also to Hove Angling Club for their help.

Acting Head, Liz Laybourn, said “We thoroughly enjoyed being part of this incredible event.  The determination of the runners was amazing to see as was the incredible commitment of the girls and staff who helped tirelessly to make the runners feel supported and well looked after.”
