Taking on a Personal Challenge for Lent

Posted: 4th May 2017

Congratulations to Rosie B, Year 8, who made the decision to do something different at Lent this year.  She decided to do something positive rather than the traditional “giving up” something.

Inspired by her love of running Rosie decided to run a mile a day for the 46 days of Lent, and succeeded in raising an amazing £1,000 for her chosen charity ‘Meningitis Now’.  Her beloved Gran died unexpectedly from meningitis last year, and Rosie wanted to raise money to support valuable research and raise awareness that Meningitis can happen to anyone at any time.

The School and her family are all extremely proud of Rosie completing this challenge, particularly on the cold, dark mornings before school, when she just wanted to stay tucked up in bed.  Well done Rosie.

Talking about her amazing achievement, Rosie said “Thank you to all the people who supported me, I was hoping to raise £250 so I was really excited to raise a lot more”.

Rosie is pictured being presented with her 2nd place medal following the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend Mile in Burgess Hill held at the start of May 2017.
