French Day in the Junior School

Posted: 6th June 2017

On Friday 19th May 2017, the Junior School enjoyed and celebrated their first ever French Day.  The day was packed with fun and creative activities and reinforced the strong curricular link we have between the Senior School and the Junior School.

The Infant classes enjoyed crafts and games linked to a French song about a picnic with the support of enthusiastic Year 7 helpers.  They were then lucky enough to have an actual picnic, outside, in between the rain showers.  The kitchen staff provided typical French picnic food. In the afternoon the Infants ordered their very own ice-cream in French.  We wonder if anyone will try it out for real on holiday this summer.

The Junior girls enjoyed activities linked to a buying and selling song.   Year 9 pupils ably helped run the market stall.  They thoroughly enjoyed teaching a few words of French to the younger girls and helping them with their pronunciation when asking for fruit and vegetables au marché.  For lunch the junior girls were treated to croque monsieurs et frites, followed by ice-cream.
