Equestrian Team End of Year Round-Up

Posted: 20th December 2017

It’s been a very busy Autumn for the Burgess Hill Girls Equestrian team. Here’s our end of year round-up.

If you would like to represent the school and be part of a team or individual in jumping or dressage please contact the Burgess Hill Girls Equestrian Manager Kirsty Wilson on 07713 590950.

The first event was Jumping with Style Arena Eventing, held at Petley Wood, where Leah and Suzannah both jumped very well achieving clear rounds, but unfortunately just outside being placed.

Our next event was our first as a show jumping team at the prestigious Hickstead arena. This was an extremely well attended event with over 20 local schools involved. We had two teams taking part. Our Junior team; Kiara on Bernie, Kirstin on Cognac and Heidi on Flick, did a fantastic job and jumped lovely rounds over quite high jumps! Our second team was a mix of Senior girls; Natasha on Dorada and Leah on Martin, and Junior girls; Scarlett on Harry and Suzannah on Lulu. Natasha and Suzannah jumped beautiful clear rounds and Scarlett and Leah had one unlucky pole down each.

Our last outing in September was to Felbridge show ground, the girls all jumped beautiful clear rounds with Suzannah again getting us a fabulous time. We were extremely pleased to be placed 6th in a very competitive class, and qualifying for the National Championships at Keysoe later this year!

November found us at Coombelands in a Jumping with Style Event. The mini jumping team of Kirstin, Klara and Heidi did extremely well, coming 4th overall and Kirstin obtaining an individual 4th placing too! The judge also commented how beautifully the Burgess Hill Girls rode. Scarlett rode the following day and had two fantastic clear rounds in very competitive 70cm and 80cm classes.

In December the 70 / 80cm show jumping team were back at Coombelands for the Arena Eventing. Leah, Suzannah and Scarlett all jumped very well in a very challenging 70cm class, coming 5th overall. Scarlett came 3rd individually on her pony Harry, she also went on to get a fabulous clear round in the 80cm class. Best news of all, the girls qualified for the Hickstead regional finals in May 2018.
