British Linguistics Olympiad Success

Posted: 28th March 2018

Congratulations to the Senior School students who took part in the challenging UK Linguistics Olympiad in the Spring Term 2018.

Selina, Year 11, obtained a Gold award in the Advanced Olympiad normally reserved for sixth formers, and made it through to the second round in Reading. Selina finished 14th nationally. During the second round, the national team to represent the UK at the International Olympiad in Prague was selected and Selina made the team! She will be following in the footsteps of Bold Girl Elysia Warner, who won a gold medal at the International Linguistics Olympiad in Beijing and is now in her final year at Cambridge studying Linguistics.

Congratulations to Coco, who obtained Silver in the very difficult advanced paper. Well done also to Hannah, Emma and Cici in Year 11 and Ruth in Year 10, who all obtained Silver awards in the Intermediate competition.
