On Thursday 14th March, we hosted our annual Carers’ Day with Burgess Hill Town Council. The event is for carers living in and around Burgess Hill who provide unpaid care for a friend or family member.
The carers began their day of pampering at 10.30am. Many local businesses volunteered their time to join us in helping those who attended to relax. At the start of the day, each carer was paired with one of our pupils who helped them book appointments and looked after them throughout their time here. Massages, haircuts and nail painting was on offer throughout the day – all for free! In the middle of the hall where the event was held, were a handful of activities that the carers could enjoy between treatments. These included flower arranging, plant potting, cake decorating and tea light decorating, all of which the carers were able to take away.
Surrounding the activities were a wide range of information stands including the NHS, NatWest Bank and the local Fire Services, all of which were more than happy to give support and advice to the carers. There was a tombola and raffle including some very generous gifts including Race Day tickets at Plumpton Racecourse, Spa Day and a glass of fizz for 2 at The Grand Hotel Brighton to name a few, the raffle was announced by our lovely town mayor Chris Cherry.
Lunch was provided with some beautiful entertainment from our musical students and Mr Black our Head of Music.
