Sixth Form Social

Posted: 27th September 2024

On Friday 6th September, Burgess Hill Girls Years 12 and 13 had a great time at the Sixth Form Social; Upper Sixth student Hannah B reports back on the event.

Held in the first week of September, it was an exciting night and a perfect way to kick off the school year and welcome the new Lower Sixth. The common room was buzzing with excitement from the moment school ended. Both Lower and Upper Sixth students gathered together, and it was amazing to see how quickly the year groups mixed. The atmosphere felt warm and relaxed, with people chatting, laughing, and dancing together. It was such a special way for the new Lower Sixth to settle into the Sixth Form, and the start of many new friendships I am sure.

We would all like to thank our incredible teachers – Mr Regan-Smith, Mrs Scopes and the staff who helped make the evening such a success. Organising an event like this isn’t easy, but they made sure everything ran perfectly. Thanks to them everyone had a great time, and we’re all so grateful for their hard work and enthusiasm!

Of course, no social would be complete without food, and that’s where Alan, our school chef, came to the rescue. He treated us to fizzy drinks and the delicious pizzas, which were definitely the star of the evening. From margherita to pepperoni, it was just what we all needed after a busy first week.

And as if that wasn’t enough, there was ice cream, too! The perfect sweet ending to our night, it added an extra bit of fun to the evening. But the highlight, aside from the incredible food, had to be the Photo Booth. Equipped with all sorts of hilarious props – from oversized sunglasses to wacky wigs and colourful hats – we all had a great time posing for the camera. It was impossible not to laugh at the ridiculous photos and we ended up with some fantastic ones that are already on display in Cedar Lodge.

Then, of course, there was the karaoke. At first, everyone was a little shy, but after a few songs, there was no stopping us! The room felt like a concert as we cheered each other on and sang along to everything from pop hits to musical ballads. It was a perfect way for the Lower Sixth to get involved and for all of us to bond over shared (sometimes off-key) music.

The social brought us closer together as a Sixth Form and gave us an evening full of laughter, fun, and unforgettable memories. Thank you to everyone who made it happen – our amazing teachers, Alan for his legendary food, and all of the students who made the night so special. I’m so excited for what the rest of the year will bring!
