Burgess Hill Girls Hosts Year 5 Netball Tournaments for Local Schools
By Sarah Kruschandl, Head of Partnerships
This week, Burgess Hill Girls was thrilled to welcome teams from across Sussex for two exciting Year 5 netball tournaments, held on 12th and 13th February. These events are part of our ongoing commitment to building strong partnerships with local schools and providing young players with valuable sporting experiences.
The tournaments followed the Bee Netball framework, England Netball’s fun and inclusive programme designed to develop skills and confidence in young players. Each team played in pools of games, with five-player rotations ensuring everyone had the chance to experience different positions. When not competing, players took part in the “fun zone,” led by our enthusiastic Year 6 Sports Leaders, where they could refine their skills in a relaxed and supportive setting.
Burgess Hill Girls was delighted to present medals to the most improved player in each team, bee-themed prizes for fun zone achievements, and certificates for all participants. A special appearance from our beloved mascot, Queen Bee, added to the excitement as she handed out the awards.
A huge thank you to all the schools that took part across both days: Oak Tree Primary School, Lindfield Primary School, London Meed, St Lawrence Church of England Primary School, Ditchling Church of England Primary School, The Windmills Junior School, Pennthorpe, Lancing College Prep Worthing, Lewes Old Grammar Prep School, Hurstpierpoint Prep School, Ardingly Prep School, and, of course, our own Burgess Hill Girls Prep. Your enthusiasm and sportsmanship made the tournaments a fantastic success!
At Burgess Hill Girls, we are committed to strengthening relationships with local schools and the wider community. By working together, we can provide meaningful opportunities that inspire and support young people. If your school or business would like to collaborate with us, we’d love to hear from you!
