On January 21st, our Lower Sixth students gathered at Mid Sussex Golf Club for our annual Networking Dinner—a careers event specifically designed for this year group.
How does the event work?
The students indicate the types of careers they are interested in, and our school leverages its extensive network to connect them with professionals in those fields. We are fortunate to have access to dedicated volunteers, drawn from our illustrious alumnae, the talented parent body, the local business community, and experts in academia, who generously contribute their time to support our students.
Each year, there’s a keynote speaker. This year, we were delighted to welcome Charlotte Bridgeman-Brady, Head of Talent Acquisition at BBC News and one of our own parents. Charlotte shared her inspiring career journey, emphasizing the importance of authenticity and the reality that career paths often involve twists and turns before one finds their true calling. She reassured the students that employers value diverse experiences, which foster unique perspectives, confidence, and resilience—qualities essential for success in any career.
The event was a resounding success, showcasing a wide array of careers including Accountancy, Business, Law, Medicine, Criminology, Geography, Photography, and even Casting Director!
We extend huge thanks to everyone who dedicated their time to provide our students with invaluable insights into the realities of various professions.
