Carers Day 2025: Celebrating Those Who Care

Posted: 11th March 2025

On Thursday 6th March, we proudly hosted our annual Carers Day in collaboration with Burgess Hill Town Council – providing a much-needed day of wellbeing and respite for carers from across our local community. This special event transformed our Croft II building into an area of relaxation, support, and connection for those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

A Day of Pampering and Support

The day began with a warm welcome over tea and coffee, before guests were invited to explore the variety of services and activities available in our main hall. This year’s offerings included:

  • Stylish ladies’ clothing and accessories from Posh Threads

Between treatments, our guests enjoyed a range of creative and engaging activities including bracelet making, flower arranging, diamond painting, tassel making, and various puzzles. The relaxed atmosphere allowed carers to connect with each other while enjoying these therapeutic crafts.

A delicious lunch of fresh sandwiches and fruit was prepared by our school kitchen team, providing nourishment during this day of restoration. The experience was further enhanced by the talents of our senior students, who performed a series of musical pieces including vocal solos, cello performances, and beautiful duets that were warmly received by all attendees.

Community Partnership

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Burgess Hill Town Council and the numerous organisations that participated, including:

These organisations provided valuable information and guidance to carers seeking additional support resources.

Making a Difference

This event particularly resonates with our school’s commitment to community engagement. Our students thrived while interacting with local adults, gaining profound insights into the challenges that many carers face – from the emotional toll of providing round-the-clock care to navigating complex healthcare systems and balancing personal wellbeing with caregiving responsibilities.

One attendee shared that this was “the first time in three months I’ve had a moment just for me,” highlighting the vital importance of events like this.

Carers Day embodies Burgess Hill Girls’ dedication to creating meaningful connections within our community while providing our students with valuable life lessons in empathy, service, and social responsibility.

We look forward to continuing this tradition and thank everyone who helped make the day such a resounding success.
