Our dedicated teaching staff engaged in a comprehensive INSET day with a focus on digital development.
Cross-phase collaboration is a feature of Burgess Hill Girls’ professional development days, and we are extremely fortunate to wealth of in-house, homegrown expertise, as well as draw upon the extensive experience, expertise and wisdom of our digital partner, Laura Knight from Sapio Ltd.
Greer Williams, Head of Teaching and Learning in the Prep School, led an excellent session, with Prep and Senior staff working together to review our digital citizenship curriculum. Working collaboratively, they explored skill and knowledge priorities at different stages, from Nursery through to the Sixth Form. With a world developing at breakneck speed, Tomorrow’s Women need to be responsible, ethical online citizens.
Assistant Head Academic, Rohaise Flint, and Head of Maths and Computing, Rob Stanway, delivered an inspiring presentation on the ways in which AI can be used ethically and creatively to enhance teaching and learning, after which teachers worked together using a range of AI tools to ‘renovate a resource’, and create dynamic and engaging learning materials.
Our digital partner, Laura Knight, delivered a compelling keynote on leveraging OneNote and Teams to enhance teaching and learning. The focus was on harnessing the Microsoft ecosystem to foster meaningful student interactions, streamline learning workflows, assessment and feedback, and cultivate a robust blended learning model. Teachers honed their digital skills in specially designed sandpit test classroom environments, where they applied and practised knowledge and techniques.
The success of the day was underpinned by the exceptional support from our IT team, who ensured seamless technical integration, and our maintenance and Reception staff, who provided essential logistical support. A good lunch fuels quality learning, enabling teachers to fully immerse themselves in this vital professional development. At times, the dining hall felt like an internet café!
