Our Prep School Performance Sparks Joy Among Students!

Posted: 28th March 2025

The Prep Dance Showcase was a wonderful demonstration of our students expressing themselves through dance. Using different songs for various age groups, the children used creative choreography to showcase their confidence and abilities.

The Year 4 students commenced the showcase with an energetic Charleston dance, setting a high-spirited tone for the event, launching the show with enthusiasm and flair!

Reception and Year 1 students followed with a delightful interpretation of a well-known song from Disney’s ‘Tangled’. The children were grouped to act out different activities from the song, including ‘candle making’, ‘ballet’, and ‘painting’. They concluded the performance with each child holding a prop candle. They visibly loved the experience!

Year 3 students then presented the powerful Haka dance from New Zealand. Teacher Mrs Johnson, who choreographed most of the showcase’s performances, accompanied the dancers by drumming. The students moved with precision around the room and incorporated karate-inspired moves.

The Year 2 students then delivered a ballet-inspired dance to the classic film soundtrack ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The children wore rabbit hats, created dynamic formations across the stage and enjoyed every moment of their dance!

Miss Cook choreographed the Year 5 performance, which was a dance along to the song ‘Hard Knock Life’ in the musical ‘Annie’. The students wore costumes and used props including buckets and blankets. They divided into groups, carrying out synchronised dance sequences that showed their collective talent.

The Year 6 students concluded the showcase with a medley of classic songs including ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Does Your Mother Know’ and ‘Dancing Queen’. Dressed in 1970s-inspired costumes and using creative props like netting for their hair, they performed with confidence, demonstrating impressive comfort and stage presence.

Huge thanks to Miss Johnson and Miss Cook for bringing out the best in our talented young performers!
