On Tuesday 4th July students from Burgess Hill Girls Senior and Prep School hosted one hundred and twenty-nine senior citizens from Burgess Hill to a summer tea party.
The senior citizens were welcomed to the school by students in Year 9 and Year 10. The guests were treated to an afternoon tea with scones and cakes. There was a raffle draw and everyone took part in a quiz and games of bingo. Finally, the guests enjoyed a variety of musical performances and songs from students in the Prep and Senior school at Burgess Hill Girls.
Guests Wendy and Brian Ashton had a lovely time:
“My wife and I cannot praise the girls enough for the kindness shown to us, we just wanted to say a big, big, thank you to everyone and to the young ladies for entertaining us as well. They should all be very proud of themselves.”
Brenda Williams, Community Engagement Chair at Burgess Hill Council, was also in attendance with her husband, Deputy Leader, Peter Williams:
“Peter and I really enjoyed being part of the Tea Party at Burgess Hill Girls. Another brilliant occasion for our older residents who all made lovely comments after the event.”
The students also had a great time hosting the event. Charlotte Rayner said:
“It was a very rewarding experience in which I felt I was making a difference to our community. The afternoon was filled with joy with our guests getting involved in the bingo, raffle and quiz. There was something for everyone and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent.”
