Year 9 Dinner & Disco

Posted: 20th September 2024

The Year 9 Welcome Dinner and Disco was a night to remember—an event filled with laughter, excitement, and the spirit of friendship. For many students, transitioning into Year 9 can be both thrilling and daunting, as it marks the start of a new chapter in their school life. This year’s dinner and disco served as the perfect opportunity to ease those nerves, fostering integration and encouraging new connections in a fun and vibrant atmosphere.

As students arrived, the air buzzed with excitement. The venue was beautifully decorated, with colourful lights and balloons that set the tone for the evening. The dinner portion of the night was not only about enjoying delicious food but also about breaking the ice. Students who might not have known each other well found themselves seated at mixed tables, encouraging conversations with new faces.

The atmosphere was filled with positivity, and the shared experience of being in Year 9 gave everyone something in common to bond over. For some, this was the first time they had interacted with students from other classes or friendship groups, and the relaxed setting allowed these initial conversations to flow naturally.

Student M commented:

“The Year 9 welcome disco was amazing , we where welcomed in by the teachers and sat down to enjoy a lovely two course meal . We then jumped up to go and dance and sing in front of the party lights! Everyone had so much fun and it was the best welcome to Year 9 we could have asked for. I was very nervous to start Year 9 but this disco made me feel so much better. Thank you.”

As the dinner came to a close, the excitement for the disco grew. The music began to play, and the students hit the dance floor with enthusiasm, as did Mr Stanway’s dance moves! The disco was a highlight of the evening, where everyone came together to dance, laugh, and enjoy themselves.

As students look forward to the year ahead, they do so with the knowledge that they are part of a supportive and welcoming community. The Year 9 Welcome Dinner and Disco was more than just an evening of fun—it was a celebration of friendship, inclusion, and the bright future that lies ahead for everyone involved.
