Last weekend, our Year 10 boarders set off on a fun-filled and enriching residential trip to Oxford. Accompanied by our wonderful Housemistresses, Rachael Hirst and Heather Round. The girls enjoyed perfect sunny weather as they explored the iconic sights of this historic city.
The girls were especially thrilled by the luxury of staying in a hotel—an exciting treat after their hard work during mock assessments. One of the trip’s highlights was a fascinating tour of Oxford, where the girls immersed themselves in the rich history of the area. A visit to the Ashmolean Museum was particularly memorable, with Heather’s extensive knowledge of archaeology and history bringing the collections to life for the girls.
Wandering around the prestigious Oxford University colleges was another significant part of the trip, giving the girls a valuable insight into what life might be like at one of the world’s most renowned institutions. Many of our students go on to apply to Oxford and Cambridge in Sixth Form, and this experience sparked inspiration and ambition in them as they began to think about their futures.
The trip wasn’t all about learning, though! The girls also had plenty of fun letting off steam with a competitive round of bowling, followed by arcade games, where they competed with each other for top scores. They wrapped up the day with delicious meals at various restaurants, enjoying the chance to relax and indulge.
The sunny weather was the perfect backdrop for plenty of photos, and of course, it helped make the shopping experience at Oxford’s vibrant shops even more enjoyable. On Sunday, the girls treated themselves to a morning of shopping at the luxury outlet, Bicester Village. By the time they returned, they had bags full of new finds, heads full of fascinating facts, and hearts full of happy memories.
This trip marks the beginning of an exciting new tradition of residential experiences, with plans for future trips to Edinburgh (Heather’s hometown) and Disneyland Paris. Our goal is to ensure that our students have the opportunity to explore key cities and cultural attractions across the UK and Europe during their time with us. We look forward to many more adventures ahead!
