Empowering Our Prep Girls with Life-Saving Skills

Posted: 21st May 2025

At Burgess Hill Girls, we believe in equipping our pupils with the skills they need not only for academic success but for life beyond the classroom. That’s why we were delighted to welcome Mini First Aid Sussex to work with our Prep girls on an inspiring and highly practical first aid workshop.

The girls learnt a wide range of essential life-saving skills, including how to assess an emergency scene, call for help, perform CPR, place someone into the recovery position, respond to choking incidents, and treat burns and wounds. Delivered in an age-appropriate and engaging way, the session was hands-on, informative, and empowering.

We know how important it is for young people to gain confidence in responding to emergency situations. According to Mini First Aid Sussex, first aid education from an early age helps children develop calm, clear thinking under pressure, and the ability to act decisively—skills that can make all the difference in a real-life emergency.

Opportunities like this are an important part of the Burgess Hill Girls experience. From Prep through to Sixth Form, we are committed to providing learning that goes beyond the curriculum.

Whether it’s mastering first aid, exploring enterprise, or developing leadership skills, we want every girl to feel prepared for the challenges of life with confidence and compassion.

We are incredibly proud of how engaged and enthusiastic our Prep girls were during the session—and how eager they are to put their new skills into practice (hopefully not too soon!).

A huge thank you to Mini First Aid Sussex for helping us nurture the next generation of calm, capable young women, ready to care for others when it matters most.
