Future Paths: Year 8 Careers Morning

Posted: 5th February 2026

Year 8 students enjoyed an inspiring Careers Morning last week, hearing from four outstanding women whose stories showcased the many paths—and surprises—a career can hold. Each speaker offered a powerful reminder that confidence, curiosity, and courage can open unexpected doors.

Our speakers included Anah Zakeer, BOLD alumna, NHS Governor and soon-to-be public sector consultant; Jennifer Yon, architectural designer and advocate for women in construction; Anne Pithie, Director of Marketing, Communications and Admissions, who shared her varied career spanning fashion, entrepreneurship and education; and Diana Kay, former McLaren F1 graphic designer with a remarkable career stretching from 1990 to 2017.

From designing major housing developments, to creative work in Formula 1, to becoming the youngest NHS governor in the region, the stories shared were filled with ambition, resilience, and bold decision making.

A Message from the Head of Sixth Form, Iain Regan Smith

“Events like this are vital in helping our students see themselves in the futures they aspire to. By hearing directly from women who have carved out exciting, meaningful careers, our Year 8s can begin to imagine the possibilities ahead of them. This is how we shape Tomorrow’s Women, by giving them voices to learn from, role models to look up to, and the confidence to lead and inspire”

The students left the morning inspired, energised, and ready to explore their own journeys, with plenty to talk about at home.
