There is something truly special about coming back to the place where so many lifelong friendships began.
On Saturday 27 June, more than 70 alumnae returned to school for our Bold Girls Afternoon Tea, one of the highlights of our 120th anniversary celebrations. Throughout the afternoon, the school was buzzing with conversation, laughter and plenty of nostalgia as former pupils reunited with classmates, teachers and fellow alumnae.
Some groups arrived together having organised reunions to mark significant milestones since leaving school including those celebrating 20 years since they were students here. Others took the opportunity to reconnect with friends they had not seen for many years. Everywhere you looked, there were stories being shared, memories being revisited and new connections being made.
The afternoon offered guests the chance to enjoy many different aspects of school life, both past and present. Sixth Form students led tours around the campus, proudly showcasing the facilities and opportunities available today. Meanwhile, our archive exhibition proved a popular attraction, with visitors enjoying a journey through 120 years of school history and discovering photographs and memorabilia from their own eras.
A delicious afternoon tea was served alongside refreshments from a cocktail bar, while live music from Soul to Soul Acoustics created the perfect atmosphere for a relaxed and celebratory afternoon.
One of the most memorable moments was welcoming not only our current Head, Heather Cavanagh, but also former Heads Rosemary Lewis and Liz Laybourn. Seeing three generations of school leadership together reflected the strong sense of continuity and community that has always been at the heart of the school.
As we celebrate our 120th anniversary year, events such as this remind us that the school’s greatest legacy is not its buildings, but the people who have walked through its doors. The friendships formed here, the memories created and the values instilled continue to connect generations of Bold Girls long after they leave.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so memorable. We loved welcoming you back and look forward to seeing you again soon.
