Year 11 student musician Genie has achieved remarkable success following her recent participation in the Berklee Clinics at the renowned Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy.
Over two intensive and inspiring weeks, Genie joined talented young musicians from around the world, taking part in workshops, performances and collaborative learning opportunities led by Berklee College of Music faculty. The programme provided an exceptional environment for developing musical skills, building confidence, and creating lasting friendships with fellow aspiring musicians.
During her time in Perugia, Genie was invited to interview and audition for Berklee College of Music’s Aspire programme, a highly regarded five-week pre-college summer course held in Boston, USA.
At the programme’s graduation ceremony, Genie received the exciting news that she had been awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend Aspire 2027. With only eleven scholarships available, it was a proud and memorable moment when her name was announced as the final recipient.
The opportunity represents an important step in Genie’s musical journey. While attending the programme in Boston next summer, she will also have the chance to audition and interview for the degree course she hopes to pursue after completing Sixth Form.
