Sport and Physical Education play a key role in the school and the girls develop a range of life skills. We believe exercise and activity is essential to the well-being of our pupils. It shapes an individual character, creativity and community spirit and it plays a central role in building confidence, resilience and teamwork as well as practical, physical, technical and mental skills.
Physical Education and Sport enables the girls to learn about goal-setting, leadership, communication skills, preparation, interacting with others, sportsmanship, organisation, delegating and taking responsibility for their own actions. These skills are essential and crucial for the workplace along with their academic study. To help develop these skills we encourage all our girls to take regular exercise in an area they have a passion for or enjoy.
We have a strong house system with a huge range of sports competitions being held throughout the year, including Netball, Hockey, Cross Country, Athletics, Dance, Tennis, Rounders and Chess. These involve a large number of girls, which creates a vibrant house spirit amongst staff and pupils alike, ranging from Year 3 to Upper Sixth. The year is rounded off with Sports Day where the whole school congregates for the battle of the houses. Hereby each and every pupil feels part of this exciting and passionate community.
