Local Carers Enjoy a much deserved Pamper Day

Posted: 10th February 2017

Burgess Hill Girls held a Pamper Day for Carers on Wednesday 8th February 2017.  Year 9 pupils looked after the carers for the day by showing them around the information stands, booking pamper sessions for them, serving lunch and keeping them company.  The free event, which was organised by the school and Burgess Hill Town Council, was arranged for people from the local area who care for others.  The aim was to give carers free pampering by local specialists.

The pamper sessions and activities were provided by local companies – Physio Six, Catwalk Hairdressers, Jimmy’s Barbers, Mid Sussex Golf Club, Sole Reflexions, Carrie Anne Massages, Nails by Fern Dolby, Nails by Emma Leamy and Angie’s Mobile Nails.   The event was also supported by the Harbour Hotel Brighton, Mid Sussex Golf Club, Peewees Hairdressing, Jupps Fish & Chips, The Thatched Inn Hassocks, The Grand Brighton, Ockenden Manor and Your Time Massage & Beauty Therapy who each donated prizes for the raffle.

Parents of the girls at the school brought in tombola prizes and the students helped pot plants for the guests to take home.  A craft session donated and run by BNY Mellon Bank was provided and a hit with the carers.  A soup lunch and musical entertainment was provided by the music students.  The event was opened by Burgess Hill Town Crier, Neil Batsford and attended by Burgess Hill Town Mayor, Jacqui Landriani.

Local carer, Mrs Sumner said, “A big ‘thank you’ for such a lovely ‘pamper day’.  The student who looked after me was the perfect hostess, along with all the other girls, plus staff, was very attentive.  Such talented musicians too.”

A spokesperson for Burgess Hill Council commented “It was a lovely day and a great example of partnership working.”
