Year 11 Drama GCSE and A level Examination Performance Evenings

Posted: 8th May 2017

In the short time we have been back after Easter, the Year 11 and Sixth Form Drama students have completed and performed their examination pieces to their examiners and audiences.

On Wednesday 26th April, the Year 11 Drama GCSE cohort of 2017 performed their final Performance Examination pieces to a packed audience.  The girls, performing in groups of 4, devised their own performances, with ideas on the theme of “change” and inspired by Berkoff’s play “Metamorphosis”. The various performances took the form of a range of different styles and genres of theatre – from Political and Epic Theatre to Physical and Total Theatre. The themes were also wide ranging and extremely thought-provoking.

It was a dramatic and enjoyable evening that allowed these talented students to show their audience their final piece of GCSE work.

On 2nd May, the A2 Drama students performed their devised examination performance. A piece of Creative Adaptation and Storytelling theatre that took Ian Serrailiers’s novel, The Silver Sword, and performed and adapted moments of it into a thought-provoking piece that asked us questions about the child refugees of the present day. The Lower Sixth Drama students also performed their assessed 1st scripted extract for the evening showcase.
