New Head for Burgess Hill Girls

Posted: 27th May 2017

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Liz Laybourn as the new Head of Burgess Hill Girls.

Below is an edited transcript of a letter from Dr Alison Smith, Chairman of Governors, which was sent to Burgess Hill Girls parents and girls on the 26th May 2017.

”Since the resignation of Mrs Bell the Governors have given a great deal of thought as to how to fill the role of head teacher at the school.

There was an internal candidate with all of the right skills and aptitudes leave alone knowledge of the school.

The Governors interviewed Mrs Laybourn for the role of Headteacher on the morning of May 12th.

I am absolutely delighted to say that the Governors unanimously endorsed Mrs Laybourn as the next Headteacher of Burgess Hill Girls. They and I saw no need to look externally as it was clear that we had the perfect candidate in Mrs Laybourn. Her strength, knowledge and strategic thinking fitted perfectly with the school and its future.

She has accepted the post which she will take up immediately.

It is my view that the school is very lucky to have been able to appoint someone of such calibre and in light of the changes to the education system which is impacting on all schools to have someone at the helm who is known to all and who has the right skills is fantastic.

I hope you will all join me to wish her well for the future and look forward to working with her and her team to move forward a school that means so much to us.”
