On Thursday 8th June 2017, the Junior School Council and Eco Committee went to visit the Education Centre at the Ford Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) near Arundel. It was a very informative day as they had the opportunity to learn more about the importance of recycling at home and in school.
After the talk and presentation, the girls put on special headphones and went to explore the MRF centre in action from the viewing platform.
The girls then enjoyed creating a recycling themed design on a cotton bag to encourage other people to continue to recycle, reuse and reduce. They were even lucky enough to receive a special pencil made from newspaper, a sharpener and they took home their unique and colourful bags! A fantastic day out with a hard working School Council and Eco Committee.
Here are some of the things the girls said about the trip:
“I now know about the scrunch test to see if things can be recycled!” – Lucy
“I will be much more careful about what goes in my recycling at home.” – Charlotte
“I really enjoyed the viewing platform and watching the conveyor belts.” -Annie
