Success at the Fashion Icon Competition

Posted: 20th March 2019

Each year ICHF (International Craft and Hobby Fairs) invite schools to design a garment for their Fashion Icon Competition. This year the theme was The Met Gala Ball. Sustainability is always a key consideration so students are encouraged to use an existing garment to recycle. Also included in the brief this time was to include a fashionable accessory either a hat or an umbrella/parasol. Design boards are sent to the judging panel who select the top 10 designs. These then need to be made in time for the event held at the NEC in Birmingham. Judges inspect the garments very closely and mark construction techniques and appearance on the catwalk when being modelled.

Abigail Fossey (Year 10) was selected as a finalist. She chose to model her own outfit, and did so with poise and confidence. Her outfit looked stunning on the catwalk and thoroughly deserved to be placed second in a very strong entry.

Well done Abigail!
