The Prep School Orchestra has been working remotely over the last few months. To begin the term, some of the girls took part in the National Youth Orchestra’s ‘Ode To Joy-a-thon’! At 5pm on 17th April, they joined the NYO’s 164 musicians as part of a socially distanced orchestra to play Beethoven’s Ode to Joy on their doorsteps, dedicated to the people in society who need a musical pick-me-up at this time: our NHS staff, our key workers, or people who feel isolated in their homes.
Our next project was working on the Tango and Cha Cha, with the girls practising their instrumental parts at home, along with instruction videos from Mrs Hickey. Last week it was time for the girls to video themselves, so that we could put all the parts together and make our Remote Orchestra. It is lovely to see the girls continuing to work as a team, even though they are not together.
