We had a brilliant interhouse music day with the girls producing house choir songs and house orchestra pieces.
Every girl in their house played in their orchestra; so many girls playing an orchestral instrument and the few remaining others playing tuned or un-tuned percussion. It was evident the girls were thoroughly enjoying themselves by the sheer joy on their faces. The orchestras required them to engage all parts of their brains, fostering cognitive development and nurturing a valuable life skill that the girls will carry with them throughout their lives. The girls, themselves, led their orchestras, conducting and accompanying on the piano and they all produced excellent performances.
The song performances they created were fantastic and exciting, with amazing choreography and two-part singing.
What a fantastic day – the impact of which on the girls is immeasurable – endorsing our ethos of music being so valuable and having the ability to bring people together of all ages.
