A Second Home
“Cosy family atmosphere and all age groups mix well.” Good Schools Guide
Welcome to Burgess Hill Girls. Boarding at our school is not just a place for the girls to stay while they are studying, it is a second home where they are nurtured and encouraged to thrive.
We are very much a large extended family, welcoming girls from the UK and all over the world. Like a family, we are all here to help and support each other, to get each other through difficult times and celebrate the good ones.
Burgess Hill Girls has two vibrant boarding houses: Silverdale and Avondale. After a busy day at school, or at the weekend, the girls can often be found in the large lounge areas watching a film, playing a board game or simply catching-up.
Living on site with the girls is our supportive team of boarding staff. They foster a real community spirit and are available 24/7 to lend a hand, or an ear should your daughter need it.

Skills Development
During their time with us, the girls develop a whole range of skills that will stand them in good stead for university and beyond. They learn to become capable, independent, flexible and understanding, developing a high level of confidence and a sense of self.
The girls are encouraged to give their opinions and to take an active role in organising activities. They take on different responsibilities as they get older and have more freedom, but there is always someone there to guide them.
Sussex Life
As a boarding school in Sussex there is no shortage of activities we can offer to girls. With the vibrant city of Brighton just a few minutes away and the beautiful South Downs National Park on our doorstep, our boarders have a wealth of stimulating and exciting opportunities to take in over the weekends and in their free time. Activities which the girls have taken part in over the last academic year have included ice-skating, West-End Theatre trips, go-karting, laser tag and paintball, as well as visiting the local bonfire celebrations and village fairs.
A Positive journey
As a Burgess Hill Girls boarder, the girls truly feel cared for, leaving here with fond memories and life-long friends both in their peers and in the staff who have looked after them on this very important part of their journey.
