Leaders of the Future

Burgess Hill Girls provides an ambitious academic education that enables our students to excel and to become leaders of the future. We focus on developing bold, inquisitive and creative girls by providing a supportive and stimulating environment. We balance stress-free academic achievement, success in sport and the creative and performing arts and exceptional pastoral care, with a forward-thinking, unpretentious, ‘can-do’ attitude.

GCSE & A Level Results

The standard of academic achievement at Burgess Hill Girls is excellent and the ‘value added’ as measured by Cambridge Insight is something of which we are extremely proud. Using baseline data gathered as the pupils join the Senior School in Year 7, GCSE performance of each pupil is, on average, more than one and a half grades higher per subject than would be expected from pupils of similar ability. This regularly places Burgess Hill Girls in the top 1-2% of the schools using Cambridge Insight statistics.

In 2025 we celebrated another fantastic set of A Level results with almost 80% of outcomes graded A*-B and over 50% graded A*-A. Two thirds of the cohort gained three A*-B grades, the essential requirement for admission to the most competitive universities which in 2025 included: Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff,  Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Durham, King’s College London, Leeds, Leicester, Manchester, Nottingham, Oxford, Reading, Royal Holloway, Royal Northern Musical Conservatoire, Sheffield, Southampton, Surrey, Sussex, University of the Arts London, University College London, Warwick, York.

GCSE results were also impressive for a largely non selective cohort who on average sat 10 GCSEs each with 50% of all entries graded 9 or 8 and 25% of all entries graded 9. Over 69% of all entries were graded 9–7 and 56% of the cohort achieving seven or more grades 9–7.

Next Steps

The majority of our Sixth Form leavers go on to higher education, studying a wide range of courses; from medicine, accounting and law to animation, robotics and aeronautics. Oxford, Cambridge and other Russell Group Universities are popular destinations for our students, but we always work closely with them to explore more diverse options which might result in a better fit, including alternative career pathways such as school leaver programmes and apprenticeships.

“Pupils of all abilities achieve excellent examination results, enabling them to progress to higher education establishments of their choice.”
