Lead Houseparent & Assistant Houseparent

Full time, permanent positions

We are seeking exceptional candidates with proven skills and relevant experience to join our vibrant boarding community in residential roles as either Lead Houseparent or Assistant Houseparent.

These are exciting opportunities to play a central role in shaping the experience of pupils within a thriving independent girls’ boarding environment. You will live and work within the boarding house, helping to create a warm, supportive and aspirational home-from-home where every pupil feels safe, valued and able to flourish.

About the Roles

Both roles are integral to delivering outstanding pastoral care, ensuring that the boarding house is a safe, inclusive and well-run environment where pupils develop independence, confidence and a strong sense of belonging.

  • Lead Houseparent: Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the boarding house, including leadership of staff, operational oversight and the welfare and development of all pupils. Salary £26,176 per annum
  • Assistant Houseparent: Supporting the Lead Houseparent in the smooth running of the house, providing high-quality supervision, pastoral care and contributing to a positive house culture. Salary £22,500 per annum.

Both roles require individuals who can build strong relationships, uphold high standards, and contribute fully to the wider life of the school.

What We Are Looking For

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Relevant experience working with children and young people (boarding and pastoral experience highly desirable; essential for Lead role)
  • A strong commitment to pastoral care, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships
  • High levels of organisation, resilience and adaptability
  • The ability to contribute positively to a team environment and wider school life
  • For the Lead role: leadership and line management experience, with the ability to manage a team and oversee a busy boarding operation

Residential Requirement

These are residential (live-in) positions, and suitable accommodation is provided within the boarding house (see job descriptions for further details).

Working Pattern

  • Term time only, plus 3 additional weeks per academic year (typically at the start and end of terms)
