We welcome students from overseas. If you wish to deal directly with the school for your daughter’s application, please email International Admissions for further information.
Prospective overseas pupils should send a copy of their 2 most recent school reports along with a copy of their passport and birth certificate for preliminary assessment. They will then be required to complete English, Maths and CAT4 tests, which are suitable for their age group. The English paper is designed for students who speak English as a second language. It is expected that pupils will complete the tests under the supervision of the Agent in their offices, at their current school or at the British Council once permission has been given. Copies of the required testing documents will sent to the nominated invigilator.
Pupils who are shortlisted for a place will need to complete a Skype interview and we will also need a reference from the Headteacher of their current school.
For international students who are applying for a place in Year 9, the admissions process includes the selection of GCSE option subjects. Students begin their three-year GCSE programme of study in Year 9. This selection will need to be confirmed following an interview with the Assistant Head Academic.
For international students who are applying for a place in Year 12 and are currently taught in an English speaking school following the British curriculum, the offer of a place will be based on their predicted GCSE and iGCSE grades. In addition, a copy of their school report, reference and a Skype interview will be required.
Should an offer be made, this must be formally accepted by the family, by completing and returning the Acceptance Form with the required deposit. Once this is received, Burgess Hill Girls will apply for a student visa, if required, and send further detailed information about starting at Burgess Hill Girls.
USE AN Educational Agent
Alternatively, you may wish to contact an educational agent in your home country. The agent will deal with the school on your behalf to arrange registration and testing. The agent will explain the enrolment procedure, offer advice and translate the relevant paperwork. If you would like information regarding agencies with which we have an existing agreement email International Admissions. Please note they do charge for their services.
note to agencies
We are happy to consider new educational agencies and work with them to assist with the placement of the student. If you would like to become an agent for Burgess Hill Girls, please contact the Admissions Department before an application is submitted. Please note, we do not accept all new agent requests therefore it is suggested you provide full details of the agency when requesting a working relationship with Burgess Hill Girls.
To apply to Burgess Hill Girls on behalf of a student, you will need to send copies of the student’s school reports, birth certificate and passport via email to International Admissions. We will then confirm if the school is happy to proceed with the application. The student’s parents will then be asked to complete a registration form to be sent with the registration fee of £100. The registration fee can be paid by cheque, banker’s draft or directly into the school’s bank account (details below). Once registered, the entrance examinations will be sent to the Agent’s offices by email.
Please note that an Agency Agreement needs to be in place before Burgess Hill Girls is able to release the payment of any commission due.
When making an application on behalf of a student, agents should provide background information about the prospective student’s family, her extra-curricular interests, any qualifications or certificates attained, her ability in English (or an equivalent IELTS score), and what she hopes to achieve by coming to study in the UK. If applying for a place in either Year 9 or Year 12, then an indication of GCSE or A Level subjects is essential.
